Bratislava, Slovakia’s capital, might not be the most famous capital in Europe. However, it is definitely worth visiting this beautiful little town on the Danube river. Here are 10 things that you should look at when visiting Bratislava. And here is the complete article.

1. Sculptures

All over town you find sculptures that all have different backgrounds and meanings. Napoleons Soldier, Beautiful Náci or Cumil, the Man At Work, who peeks out of a gully cover in the city center.

2. Hviezdoslavovonámestie – Hviezdoslavovo Square

In between the Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising and the historic building of the Slovakian National Theatre you will find this long square.

3. Slavin War Memorial

This park-like area was created in honor of the soviet soldiers of the Second World War with memorials, cemeteries and memorial plaques. This war memorial is situated on a hill and offers a great view over town and on Bratislava Castle.

4. Bratislava Castle

You cannot miss this great location for pictures or to just stay, relax and enjoy the view on the Danube river and downtown from above. The area is neat and well-maintained.

5. Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising

You can hardly miss this bridge when entering Bratislava by boat. You will recognize the bridge by the prominent UFO on top of it.

6. UFO

The UFO is a restaurant and a bar in dizzy height with a visitor platform above it. Entrance fee is 7,40€ and worth it on a clear day, preferably in the evening for a romantic view over town and the sunset beyond.

7. Devin Castle

The best way to get there is by boat. The boat ride takes about 1,5 hours and you should plan at least 2 hours for the stay at the castle.

8. Subclub

If you are looking for an unusual party location you should check out the Subclub. It is located right under the Bratislava Castle and due to its tunnel systems and the bunker flair it is definitely something special.

10. Slovak National Theatre

A nice to look at building on Hviezdoslavovo square. Those who are interested can have a look at the play schedule. It is also worth it to just sit down in a café or restaurant and enjoy the nice view though.
